Making community clinics more effective stressed

03 February 2015, Nirapad News: Speakers at a view-sharing meeting unequivocally called for infusing more dynamism into the essential service delivery activities of community clinics for ensuring healthcare services to the marginalized communities for their betterment.

They viewed the district and upazila level officials and others concerned should put in their level best efforts so that the grassroots people can derive total benefits of the community clinics.

They were addressing a view-sharing meeting with district and Upazila Health and Family Planning Officers and Community Healthcare Providers at Shilpakala Academy auditorium in Rajshahi metropolis yesterday afternoon.

DASCOH organized the meeting in association with Swiss Red Cross. Large number of health officials, community health providers and others concerned attended the meeting.

Dr Makhduma Nargis, Chief Coordinator of Community Based Health Care (CBHC), addressed the meeting as chief guest with Civil Surgeon Dr Ferdous Nilufar in the chair.

Divisional Director of Department of Family Planning Moloy Kumar Roy, CBHC Divisional Programme Manager Dr Abdus Sobhan, Deputy Director of Family Planning Dr Nasima Akhtar, Programme Coordinator of International Cooperation Iva Sifrig and DASCOH Country Representative Akramul Haque also spoke.

Chief Guest Dr Makhduma Nargis said there is no alternative to elevate the essential services of the community clinics through proper functioning of the community groups and the clinics.

She stressed the need for enhancing knowledge level about health and disease control among the community people as a whole.

Dr Nargis said the present government is very much sincere about reaching the healthcare services towards the peoples’ doorstep and the government has been working relentlessly to attain the cherished goal. “Reactivation and revitalization of the community clinics is great achievement of the present government,” she added.

She urged the health providers to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for welfare of their respective communities.

Earlier, Dr Nargis accompanied by other high officials concerned visited Sonaikandi and Berpara CCs to see for the activities.
