Malayasia yet to inform Dhaka about recruitment halt: Secretary
13 March 2016, Nirapad News: Acting secretary at the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Begum Shamsun Nahar on Sunday said the Malaysian government has not yet officially informed the Bangladeshi government about its suspension order on recruiting foreign workers, including Bangladesh.
While speaking to reporters at the ministry, Shamsun Nahar also said Malaysia even did not inform the Bangladesh embassy in Kuala Lumpur anything officially.
She said they similarly received information on the Malaysia’s suspension order over recruiting foreign workers from the media first.
Shamsun Nahar told the journalists that they will not be able to do anything until an official announcement is made by the Malaysian government.
There have been concerns in Dhaka as Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the recruitment of foreign workers, including from Bangladesh, has been put on hold ‘until it ascertains the actual manpower needs of industries’.
