Mashrafe will play although not fully fit
07 November 2015, Nirapad News: Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, who has recovered from Dengue, says he is not fully fit yet for the game.
But the skipper says he will play for the country, even if it involves pain or risks.
He was diagnosed with Dengue last month and spent a week at the hospital.
Mashrafe says he still feels weak and feels dizzy even after recovering.
“I’m not 100 percent fit yet,” he told a pre-match media conference on Friday.
The skipper says it would have been better if he had more time or had more practice.
Bangladesh will face off with Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series. The first match will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
“I only take risks when I feel I can,” he said, assuring his fans. “I hope I’ll be on the field the whole time.”
Mashrafe played in Thursday’s practice match at Fatullah against Zimbabwe and bowled seven overs in two spells.
He says playing the match has boosted his confidence.
The skipper said he only fielded for 35 overs.
He said it would have been better if he could be on the field for 50 overs but added that it was difficult to take pressure in the first match after returning.
“But I put some pressure on myself yesterday as there was no alternative,” he said.
“I’m not what I used to be but I’m still confident.”
