Mastermind of Tavella murder to be disclosed soon: Home Minister

07 November 2015, Nirapad News: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday said the mastermind of the killing and killers of Italian national Tavella Cesare were identified and details will be disclosed in a day or two.

“The four people, who were earlier arrested in connection with Tavella killing, gave their confessional statements before a magistrate under the Section-164,” he told journalists after addressing the concluding session of the Two-day First Aid Training Programme for the crime reporters at the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society headquarters at Bara Maghbazar.

The minister categorically said the IS has no links with the killing and the murder was committed by the defeated evil forces of 1971 Liberation War as well as the perpetrators of the 21 August grenade attack and serial bombing in 163 districts across the country earlier. Replying to a query, the home minister said there is also a major headway in the investigation into the recent killings of two policemen in Savar.

“A probe body has been formed, investigation into the matter keeping in view some key factors including negligence of duty by the police is going on,” he added.

The minister said a vested quarter is trying to stop the trial process of the war criminals who committed crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation in 1971.

‘That vicious circle also wants to create an instable situation across the country by killing of innocent people, but their efforts will not be able to stop the trials,” Asaduzzaman added.

About the sudden attack on police, he said, “They wanted to demoralize the members of law enforcement agencies, but they wouldn’t be successful.”

Earlier, the minister distributed certificates among 40 crime reporters of different newspapers, radio, televisions and online news portal.

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) in association with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) organized the training programme.

Vice-Chairman of BDRCS Dr Habib-e-Millat, MP, member of BDRCS managing committee – M Abul Bashar, Shaikh Raisul Alam Mayna and Rajia Sultana Luna, secretary general of BDRCS BMM Mozaharul Huq, Christin Chipola, head of the delegation, ICRC, Bangladesh, CRAB President Isaraf Hossain Esa and Michael Lifle, communication delegate of ICRC, among others, were present on the occasion.
