Menon adds voice to demand Khaleda’s arrest
05 March 2015, Nirapad News: Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon has said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia must be arrested with a view to establishing the rule of law in the country.
“She (Khaleda) won’t appear before court and face the trial. Law is equal to every citizen but she does not abide by the law. She must be arrested in a bid to establish the rule of law,” he said.
Menon, also the president of Workers Party of Bangladesh, came up with the remarks on Thursday while addressing a discussion on Independence Day organized by Deputy-assistant Community Medical Officer association at Jatiya Press Club.
The minister also alleged that “Khaleda Zia is saying there is a security concern for her to come out from her office to appear before court. It is neither public nor government, but rather BNP itself that has created a security threat for Khaleda Zia, as the party members are carrying out petrol bomb and arson attacks.”
Observing that there is no chance to save the killers engaged in such acts in the name of human rights, he said killers as well as masterminds must be brought under justice.
He also said dialogue will be held on election if BNP agreed to take part in the election under this government.
