Milad, Doa Mahfil held for Altaf Mahmood
28 January 2015, Nirapad News: A Milad and Doa Mahfil was held seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of Altaf Mahmood , President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) who breathed his last on Sunday, at Jatiya Press Club auditorium after Asr prayers today.
BFUJ, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Jatiya Press Club jointly organized the function.
Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Abul Kalam Azad, Daily Samakal Editor Golam Sarwar, Ekushey Television Chief Executive and Chief Editor Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist (BFUJ) Vice-President Zafar Wazed, BSS former Managing Director and Chief Editor Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, Daily Bhorer Kagaj Editor Shyamal Dutta, Somoy Television Managing Director Ahmed Zubayer, Jatiya Press Club General Secretary Quamrul Islam Chowdhury, Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Director General Shah Alamgir, BFUJ Secretary General Omar Faruk, BFUJ former Secretary General Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, BFUJ Treasurer Madhusudan Mondal, JPC Vice-President Amirul Islam Kagaji and Joint General Secretary Ilias Khan, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Acting President Atikur Rahman Chowdhury and General Secretary Kuddus Afrad and Daily Sangbad news editor Kazi Rafiq, among others, joined the milad and doa.
BSS staff reporter Asif Mahmood Topu, only son of Altaf Mahmood, was also present on the occasion.
Special doa and monajat were offered on the occasion seeking eternal peace of Altaf Mahmood’s departed soul.
Mahmood died at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital at the age of 62.
