Minister Qamrul files time plea seeking apology
14 March 2016, Nirapad News: Food Minister Qamrul Islam has sought an apology to the court for his comments on the appeal hearing of war criminal and death-row convict Mir Quasem Ali.
His lawyer Mamun Mahbub also filed the time petition on Monday morning as the minister is now out of country.
Earlier on March 8, the Supreme Court issued a contempt rule against on two ministers–Food Minister Qamrul Islam and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq for their bitter criticisms of Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha in relation to the hearing of an appeal of war crimes convict Mir Quasem Ali.
The top court had summoned Qamrul Islam to appear before it on March 15 and explain his comments.
