Minister says no plan for Salt Board right now
04 March 2015, Nirapad News: The government has no plan right now to form a Salt Board to implement the Salt Policy for development of the country’s salt industry, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu told Parliament on Tuesday.
Responding to a tabled starred question from Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury (Chittagong-16), the minister said there is a 20-member committee for measuring the demand of salt and implementing and monitoring the Salt Policy.
An additional secretary of the Industries Ministry is leading the Committee as chairman while director (project) of BSCIC Dhaka is working as its member secretary.
Besides, the minister said, there is a 16-member Salt Advisory Board where Chittagong Divisional Commissioner is the chairman and Cox’s Bazar deputy commissioner is the secretary.
