Mugger’ suffer bullet injuries in ‘gunfight’ in Satkhira
Satkhira , 27 April 2015, Nirapad News: An alleged mugger suffered bullet injuries in a gunfight between his cohorts and police at Ramchandrapur in Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
The injured was identified as Siddique Tarafdar, son of late Golam Tarafdar of Dhamalia village in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district.
Satkhira Police information officer Sub-inspector Kamal Hossain said a group of muggers swooped on one Habibur Rahman in Keshtomoira More of the district town and snatched Tk1.5 lakhs he was carrying in a bag on Sunday noon.
After a hot chase, local people caught Siddique Tarafdar along with Tk 50,000. Later, they handed over Siddique to police while his other associates managed to escape.
According to Siddique’s confession, police took him to Ramchandrapur area to arrest his associates and recover the rest of the money around 11:45 pm. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the gang members started firing shots at police who also retaliated by firing triggering a gunfight, leaving Siddique bullet-hit.
Police recovered bullet-hit injured Siddique while other associates managed to flee the scene. The injured was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital under police custody. Police also recovered cartridges and a sharp weapon from the spot.
