Muhith seeks enhanced university engagements in multi-sectoral areas
13 November 2015, Nirapad News: Finance minister AMA Muhith on Thursday sought enhanced university engagements with industry, business and agriculture sectors revising their policy focus and ensuring the standard of higher education.
“With a view to keeping pace with the present world, the quality of education must be ensured,” a University Grants Commission (UGC) statement quoted him as telling a day-long National Workshop on the quality of higher education, chaired by education minister Nurul Islam Nahid.
Simultaneously, he said, the universities must set their role in promoting industry, business and agriculture sectors as “joint endeavors among the university-industry, university-agriculture and university-business sectors”.
Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) of UGC organized the function at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC).
Acting secretary of the Education Ministry AS Mahmaud and World Bank’s acting country director Christine E Kimes joined as special guests, the function when UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan delivered the welcome speech.
HEQEP Project Director Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohant, UGC members Prof Dr Mohammad Mohabbat Khan and Prof Dr Abul Hashem, among others, were present on the occasion.
