Muhith’s press brief postponed
15 March 2016, Nirapad News: Finance Minister AMA Muhith has postponeded his media briefing.
He was supposed to brief the press on 11:00 am this morning to clarify the governments stance and actions regarding the reserve bank heist, his Private Secretary SM Jakaria Huq had told reporters on Monday.
Bangladesh Bank, in early February, lost $101 million from the central bank’s reserve account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in the United States of America in an internet-banking fraud.
The finance minister was kept in the dark about the heist for more than a month until March 8 even though BB officials had knowledge of it soon after the heist.
Bangladesh Bank on Monday postponed an emergency meeting of its board of directors for today (Tuesday).
The central bank governor, Atiur Rahman, returned home Monday afternoon after attending a four-day program of the International Monetary Fund in India.
