Municipal Polls, EC-law enforcers meeting underway
19 December 2015, Nirapad News: The meeting of Election Commission (EC) with law enforcement agencies has begun on Saturday prior to take the next course of action to maintain the country’s law and order situation during the forthcoming municipal elections.
The meeting got underway at Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) Foundation auditorium in city at 11:00am.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad is presiding over the meeting.
Election Commission secretary, home ministry secretary, IGP, RAB, BGB, Ansar-VDP, Coast Guard, DGs of detective agencies, armed forces principal staff officers and returning officers are taking part in the meeting.
Voters will cast their votes in 3,585 polling centers in the municipal elections. A total of 19-20 law enforcers will be deployed at each polling center.
Sources said, the decision on whether the Army to be deployed during the polls, will be taken from the meeting.
