National Productivity Day today
02 October 2015, Nirapad News: The National Productivity Day will be observed tomorrow in the country aiming to create mass awareness to raise productivity in different sectors including industrial, agriculture and service sectors.
The theme of this year’s National Productivity Day is “Increased Productivity is needed in implementing Vision-2021”.
The National Productivity Organization (NPO) under the Ministry of Industries has chalked out elaborate programmes in observance of the day.
The programmes include bringing out a colorful rally from the road beside the Osmani Memorial Auditorium at 8:30 am. Acting Industries Secretary Sushen Chandra Das would lead the rally. Later, a seminar will be held at CIRDAP auditorium in the city.
Besides, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private news channels would air special programmes while national dailies will publish special supplements highlighting the significance of the day.
As part of the nationwide campaign, the mobile phone operators will send SMS on the day to create awareness among the people in this regard.
President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the eve of the day.
Hailing the observance of the day as a laudable initiative, the President said, “I am delighted to know that National Productivity Organization (NPO) Bangladesh is going to observe ‘National Productivity Day’ throughout the country, which is undoubtedly a praiseworthy effort.”
He said productivity improvement has been considered the most important factor for the national economy and it accelerates the development on overall economy of the country.
The president said NPO is conducting training, research and other motivational works including ‘National productivity and quality excellence Award’ in this regard.
“Apart from ongoing activities, I believe, it needs deep sense of patriotism and total commitment towards nation, and the Government is determined to lift the country into middle income group by 2021,” added Hamid.
“I think sustainable productivity development in all sectors is a must to attain the desired goals, and I believe, various events of this day will play an important role to attain these goals,” said the President.
He wished the ‘National Productivity Day 2015’ a grand success.
In her message, the Prime Minister said productivity is the key to success for socioeconomic development of any country. She said, “It is not an opportunity in today’s world; it is the backbone of people’s standard of living.”
“We have already been graduated into a lower middle-income country by dint of our hard labour and we have to work harder to upgrade our current status,” she added.
Hasina said, “As productivity ensures more goods and services, more capital, greater employment opportunities, better quality products at lower prices, all of us should be more proactive for increasing productivity to achieve this goal.”
She hoped through observing the day, productivity concept will be more popular among the people that will help achieve Vision-2021.
