Nepal to elect new president on Wednesday
25 October 2015, Nirapad News: Lawmakers in Nepal will vote for a new president this coming week, the parliamentary speaker said. Speaker Onsari Gharti said the vote will be held on Wednesday. It will be Nepal’s second president since the Himalayan nation became a republic. The prime minister is Nepal’s leader, while the president is the ceremonial head. The new constitution adopted last month requires Nepal to name a new president. Ram Baran Yadav was elected the first president in 2008 after the centuries-old monarchy was abolished by the Constituent Assembly. Yadav was initially supposed to be in office for two years, but the constitution took seven years to be prepared and adopted because of differences between political parties, according to AP.
