Nestlé BD celebrating nutrition month
06 August 2015, Nirapad News: Nestlé Bangladesh Ltd. is celebrating “Nutrition Month:.” and “World Breast Feeding Week 2015” organizing different programs including a scientific seminar titled ‘Breastfeeding – The Gold Standard’ held at the company’s head office in Dhaka Dhaka on Wednesday.
This seminar was Chaired by Professor (Dr.) Md. Moniruzzaman Bhuiyan, Principal Holy family Red Crescent Medical College and Hospital, the seminar was attended by Prof. Syed Modasser Ali, Ex- Health and Social Welfare Advisor to the Prime Minister as Chief Guest.
Dhaka University Pro VC Prof. Nasreen Ahmad and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University pro VC Prof. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed were present as the special guests.
They emphasized the need for adequate awareness and education on breastfeeding for mothers and rest of her family.
A brochure both in English and Bengali titled ‘Breastfeeding- the Gold Standard’, published by Nestle Nutrition Institute (NNI) was also published on the occasion, to be distributed among 5000 Health Care Professionals (HCP) only.
One of the key objectives of Nestlé Bangladesh Ltd. is to help improve the nutritional status of the population by creating awareness on nutrition science and by building the capacity of medical fraternity.
Through this, Nestlé aims to be a part of Bangladesh Government’s Vision 2021 to achieve MDG4: Reducing Child Mortality and MDG5: Improve maternal health.
