New British High Commissioner Alison arrives

13 Jan 2015, Nirapad News: New British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Alison Blake has arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday. She succeeds Robert W Gibson CMG.

Alison Blake joined the British Civil Service in 1989 and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1996, according to a press release of British High Commission to Dhaka.

She served a number of Diplomatic postings at home and overseas. Her immediate past posting was in Islamabad as the Deputy British High Commissioner.
On her appointment as the British representative to Bangladesh, Alison Blake said, “The United Kingdom has strong cultural, political and commercial ties with Bangladesh and works closely with the Government and people of Bangladesh on our many shared interests, including trade, investment, development and security.’

She also expressed her commitment to strengthening the long and friendly bilateral relationship and look forward to further developing our extensive cooperation between the two countries.

Alison Blake is a native Londoner, with a keen interest in Ancient and Modern History, which she studied at Oxford University.

After completing her BA in 1983, she worked as an archaeologist in London. Following that, Alison worked for an economic policy research think tank before entering the British Civil Service in 1989.
