Newly appointed Mexican envoy calls on FM, SM
8 October 2015, Nirapad News: Non-resident Ambassador of the United Mexican States to Bangladesh Melba Pria paid a courtesy call on the foreign minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, MP at his official residence on Wednesday.
Foreign Secretary Md. Shahidul Haque was present during the meeting.
Foreign Minister received the Ambassador cordially and congratulated on her appointment as the non-resident Ambassador of Mexico to Bangladesh based in Delhi.
Ambassador Pria shared the experiences of Mexico’s development journey through the past few decades and expressed keen interests to work with Bangladesh on areas of common interests.
She commended Bangladesh’s achievements in socio-economic development particularly in attaining MDG goals and Food autarky.
Applauding Bangladesh’s invaluable contribution to promote global peace and security, the she said that Mexico would like to benefit from Bangladesh’s Peace-Keeping experiences through exchange programs.
Mahmood Ali assured the Ambassador of necessary assistance in this regard.
He mentioned that BIPSOT, which has earned international accolade as a center of excellence in training peace keepers, could play an important role in this regard.
He also said that he would be happy to host Mexico’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu in Dhaka at a mutually convenient time.
Later in the evening, Ambassador Pria also paid courtesy call on the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, MP.
Both the meetings took place immediately after Ambassador Pria’s Presentation of Credentials to the President at Bangabhaban earlier.
