“No dialogue until violence stops” AL tells EP delegation
19 February 2015, Nirapad News: The ruling Awami League told the European Parliament subcommittee on human rights that no dialogue would be held with BNP unless the ongoing violence stops. AL leaders held a meeting with the delegation of European Union Parliament at the party chief’s Dhanmondi office on Thursday afternoon.
“Talks can be held before the time of election. Alongside strengthening the Election Commission, a new formula can be introduced in view of fair election. But everything has to be done in line with democratic framework,” said Prime Minister’s adviser Gowher Rizvi while talking to the press after the meeting with EU Parliamentary delegation. “No dialogue would be held unless the on-going terrorism and the violence are stopped,” he added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also ruled out any possibility of dialogue with BNP, saying that a dialogue cannot be held with killers.
Among others, H T Imam, Mohammad Zamir, Syed Ashraful Islam, Dipu Moni and Faruk Khan were present during the meeting. Members of EU Parliament delegation, however, did not talk to media.
