No SSC exams during Hartal, Rescheduled
01 February 2015, Nirapad News: The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations will not be held during Hartal on security grounds.
Education Minister, Nurul Islam Nahid said, “We cannot put our children at risk as life always comes first. We have to ensure their safety as we cannot avoid our responsibility. So we cannot take exams in such a situation. “We thought they [BNP-led alliance] would withdraw the strike considering the SSC exam. We requested them several times for this. But they did not listen to us.”
“Many of our teachers and students died during the blockade violence. We cannot let this happen twice.”
Bangla first paper examination that was supposed to be held on Monday has been rescheduled for February 6 (Friday) from 9:00am to 12 noon, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said at a briefing at his ministry in Dhaka this afternoon.
The rest of the exams will be held as per schedule amid the alliance’s nationwide blockade. He also urged the BNP to keep SSC exam out of hartal purview considering the future of the students.
The minister also thanked the guardians of the examinees for their movement demanding the withdrawal of strikes during the SSC exam.
