Obaidul Quader: Mawna flyover works to be completed by April
7 March 2015, Nirapad News: The Mawna Flyover on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur’s Sreepur area will be inaugurated on the first week of April.
Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader made the remarks while talking to the press at Mawna at around 4:00 pm Friday. Obaidul Quader earlier also visited the development work of Joydebpur to Bhaluka road.
He said 96 percent road works have finished. The Mawna flyover, built at a cost of Tk 70 crore, at Sripur Chourasta will also be open to traffic on the first week of April, when it will also be inaugurated.
He further said the rest of the packages will also be completed within May.
The long-delayed construction work of the four-lane Dhaka-Mymensingh highway is expected to be completed within June this year.
“I have visited all the four projects related to the highway upgrade today. The Joydevpur to Bhaluka package under the Bangladesh Army will be done within May. They have finished 76 percent of the work,” the minister said this while addressing the journalists after visiting the Mawna flyover at Sripur yesterday.
The minister said the work of Joydebpur-Bhaluka road will be concluded by Army within May.
While answering to a query, Obaidul said “We faced traffic congestion in several areas of the highway. Moreover, the business organizations of the hartal and blockade supporters also kept open during the hartal.”
