One gets life in Rangpur
10 November 2015, Nirapad News: A court has sentenced one person to life term rigorous imprisonment for murdering an elderly person following previous enmity about six years ago.
Learned Judge o the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 of Rangpur, Abu Jafar Mohammad Kamruzzaman, delivered the verdict this afternoon.
The convicted person was Ripon Mian, 40, of village Ashkorpur under Mithapukur upazila in the district.
The court has also fined him Taka 10,000, in default, to suffer more six months of rigorous imprisonment.
According to prosecution, Ripon Mian hit farmer Saheb Ali, 55, of the same village at the head with an iron rod on his way to the nearby market killing him on the spot in the afternoon on September 30, 2009.
Bakul Mian, son of the deceased person, filed a murder case against Ripon Mian and two others with Mithapukur Thana in this connection on the same day.
Later, police submitted charge sheet against Ripon Mian before the learned court on November 22, 2010 after investigation into the case when the trial process began.
After examining the witnesses and evidence, the learned court found the accused person guilty and announced verdict in presence of the convicted person today.
