One held with 6 petrol bombs, 5 crude bombs
23 February 2015, Nirapad News: Police in a drive have arrested a person in possession of six petrol bombs and five crude bombs at Baraiyar Hat of Mirsarai upazila in Chittagong.
The arrested is Md Ripon alias Kala, a local BNP supporter, said OC Liyakot Ali of Jorarganj police station.
A team of police conducted the drive at Baraiyar Hat at around 2:30 am and arrested Ripon from a local shop, the OC said.
Later police recovered the petrol bombs and crude bombs from his possession, which were assembled for sabotage attacks, he added.
Ripon is a member of the seven-member saboteur team hired by Md Liton, convener of the Baraiyar Hat municipality’s BNP, to carry out sabotage attacks at Mirsrai, including on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, said the OC.
During the primary interrogation, Ripon admitted BNP leader Liton has been financially supporting the saboteur team to plot and carry out attacks at Mirsari, OC Liyakot said.
Ripon also confessed their involvement in subversive activities which had been taking place in the upazila since the blockade announcement.
A case was lodged with Jorarganj police station in this regard while police have conducted drives to arrest the other gang members.
