12 February 2015, Nirapad News: The expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry in a media statement said on Thursday that registration for working in Saudi Arabia has started through online. To reduce chaos in district employment and manpower offices  registrations have been also started from the Union Parishad-level digital centres.

They would also be able to register online through the BMET website- www.bmet.gov.bd, the statement said.

It also said those who are already registered would need no further registration. The ministry asked them not to hurry while registering to work abroad.

Saudi Arabia signed a deal with Bangladesh on Tuesday to recruit 120,000 Bangladeshi workers every year. After that, the expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment ministry published a notice asking those willing to work in the oil-rich kingdom to register.

Following the notice, a number of people willing to work in the kingdom started crowding the district employment and manpower offices, creating chaos.

Security officials at the expatriates’ welfare office in the capital’s Eskaton were struggling to control the crowd on Thursday. Several altercations between the crowd and the officials also took place.
