Operation of Long-route buses to Resume from tonight
12 March 2015, Nirapad News: Long-route buses which were suspended by transport owners earlier due to rise of arson attacks will resume operation from 9 pm tonight.
The decision was taken at a meeting between State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan and leaders of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Malik Samity at Bangladesh Secretariat, told an official of the ministry familiar to the process.
Among others, shipping minster Shajahan Khan, state minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Moshiur Rahman Ranga, secretary general of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Malik Samity and Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation general secretary Osman Ali, IGP of police, director generals of BGB and Ansar attended the meeting.
Since February 9, the authorities said, the operation of long-route buses on highway remained halted after 9:00 pm following arson attacks on vehicles across the country during the ongoing nationwide hartal and blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
