Outgoing Malaysian envoy meets FM

10 December 2015, Nirapad News: Outgoing Malaysian High Commissioner Norlin binti Othman on Wednesday met Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and discussed various bilateral issues.

The Foreign Minister, while expressing satisfaction over the existing close relations between Malaysia and Bangladesh, pointed out that increased interactions in the political, economic and commercial areas have elevated the existing relations to newer heights.

He appreciated the High Commissioner’s valuable contribution to enhancing meaningful cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The envoy thanked Bangladesh for the warm hospitality she enjoyed during her stay in Bangladesh.

She particularly thanked the Foreign Minister for the support and cooperation extended to her that made her tenure in Bangladesh very productive.

AH Mahmood Ali and Norlin binti Othman exchanged views on different aspects of bilateral relations, and expressed satisfaction at significant progress made in areas of bilateral trade, investment, Bangladeshi workforce in Malaysia, education, defence and other emerging areas of cooperation.

The outgoing High Commissioner apprised the Foreign Minister about increased interest generated among Malaysian investors, SMEs and business houses to come to Bangladesh for investment and business.

The Foreign Minister stressed disseminating information of investment-friendly environment and opportunities in Bangladesh to the potential Malaysian investors to encourage them to take mutually beneficial economic ventures in Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner also mentioned about the prospect of Bangladeshi handicrafts and tourism sector.

Foreign Minister wished the outgoing High Commissioner success in her next assignment and hoped that as a genuine friend of Bangladesh, she would continue promoting Bangladesh in the days ahead.
