Pak court issues arrest warrant against former PM Gilani

27 August 2015, Nirapad News: Former Pakistan prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was issued an arrest warrant by a federal court on Thursday for his alleged involvement in approving and disbursing illicit trade subsidies amounting to millions of rupees to numerous fake companies.

According to Pakistan daily Dawn, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) issued a charge sheet with 12 cases on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Gilani pertaining to multi-million rupee scandal in the Trade Development Authority (TDAP).

Another PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim was also allegedly involved in the case. The court had previously issued notices to Fahim and Gilani but they went unheard, according to the Dawn. The court has also approved the FIA challan and issued non-bailable arrest warrant against the two directing the police to arrest the accused immediately and bring them for hearing on September 10.
