Pakistan army ruins Mirpur in Manikganj on Dec 10, 1971

10 December 2015, Nirapad News: Pakistan Army with the help of their collaborator (Razakars) launched immense brutality at Mirpur village as they tortured and killed innocent people, looted and set fire the houses of the village on December 10, 1971 during the War of Liberation.

People of Mirpur remember the day every year with various programmes. This year also a committee has been formed to observe the day.

One Badruddin of the village has decided to donate 10 decimals of land for building a monument in the village commemorating the war of liberation.

“On December 10 the Razakers with the help of Pakistan Army looted the village and set fire in the houses of the village. They also killed an innocent villager named Kokaram above 80 firing bullet and cutting him in pieces,” Puran Poyla Government Primary School headmaster Mofiz Uddin Ahmed who was the student of class eight during the liberation war described the incident to BSS.

He said Mirpur was used as a transit camp for the freedom fighters who came from the west side of the river Jamuna and moved towards Dhaka and other parts of the then Manikganj Sub-division.

In December a camp of freedom fighters was established at the village under the leadership of Monsur Alam khan with 170 Freedom Fighters.

On December 7 a message reached in the camp that a big contingent of Pakistan Army was coming from Tangail toward Manikganj through Nagarpur, Daulatpur and Ghior.

For resistance the freedom fighters keeping only 30 in the camp marched to Terosree on December 8. Understanding the small number of freedom fighters a group of Pak Army about 300 including 100 Razaker suddenly attacked the camp at about 10.30 am on December 10.

The freedom fighters responded strongly. But within half an hour due to shortage of ammunition, the freedom fighters left the spot and went to hiding.

Then the Pak Army searched the freedom fighters house to house and their local agents started looting the village.

In the battle camp leader Mansur Alam khan and one of his associates were wounded seriously.
