Panchagarh farmers expect bumper production of bitter gourd

14 March 2016, Nirapad News: Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) officials and farmers of the district are expecting a good production of bitter gourd here this season.

Farmers of the district cultivated bitter-gourd on 340 hectares of land and harvesting of the crop has already begun in full swing.

The farmers look very happy with smiles on their faces having expected yield. Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said farmers are expecting to get desired production this year.

DAE office provided quality seed, necessary agri-inputs and trainings on the latest technologies to make the programme successful. The landless and marginal farmers have also brought vast tracts of the sandy lands under bitter-gourd cultivation.

Deputy Director of DAE M Ashraf Ali said yield of the vegetable is satisfactory in the district.

The farmers were showing interests after getting expected yield, fair price and government assistances in recent years.
