Parliamentary committee urged to increase BSTI strength

27 February 2015, Nirapad News: Parliamentary Standing Committee of Ministry of Planning on Thursday urged the authority concerned to further strengthen the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and make it more effective to remove the existing trade barriers with neighboring India and other countries.
In the meeting, the committee was informed that the 7th Five Year Plan has estimated 7 percent growth target which would be even 8 percent in the last year of the Plan. The committee put forward its recommendations from the 11th meeting held at Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.
Committee members Shawkat Ali, M Tajul Islam, Shamshul Haq Chowdhury and Nilufar Zafar Ullah attended the meeting. Planning Division Secretary Mohammad Shafikul Azam, GED Member Dr Shamsul Alam and other officials concerned were present at the meeting.
