Passengers suffer as Air Asia cancels flight
01 October 2015, Nirapad News: An Air Asia Malaysia-bound plane that was supposed to depart the Shahjalal International Airport at 12.25am reportedly delayed to inform its passengers about the flight cancellation due to its mechanical fault.
Passengers alleged that Air Asia Airlines had not kept them well informed about the delay of the scheduled fight. But Air Asia’s GSA Total Airlines Services Ltd in Dhaka claimed they e-mailed the passengers about the problem.
Atikul Islam, passenger of AK-70, told banglanews that he was due to fly to KL at 12.25am Thursday, but instead sat on the departure terminal for hours.
Though airlines said they e-mailed the passengers, he did not get any such mail till 2:00am, Atikul added.
When contacted, authorities concerned said that stranded passengers will get the delayed flight at 12.25am Friday.
Sohel and fellow flyer Rafique who were flying to Malaysia for joining their jobs, had been stuck at the airport at least 15 hours after the flight to Malaysia was cancelled.
Some fellow flyers also responded angrily to the delays.
The delay meant they expatriate workers would not join their office until Friday, instead of planned arrival time on Thursday. For that, they might have face hassles in office and cutting of a day’s salary, the workers alleges.
Passengers also alleged that they were misbehaved by Air Asia staff rather say sorry for unexpected delay.
When contacted, Banglanews found Total Airlines Services Ltd chairman Mujibul Haque and managing director Saadi Abdullah’s mobile phones not reachable despite several attempts.
