Paturia-Daulatdia ferry plying resumes
08 December 2015, Nirapad News: Ferry service on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River resumed after six and a half hours of disruption caused by dense fog on Tuesday morning.
Mahiuddin Rasel, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha, said they kept suspended ferry service and plying of the water vessels from 2:30am to 9:00am due to blurred visibility for dense fog.
Eleven ferries lay motionless in the middle of the Padma.
Five ferries with a large number of vehicles and passengers on board lay anchored at Daulatdia.
Passengers suffered as a good number of vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.
Ferry service on the important route resumed around 9:15 am as fog started disappearing with the sunrise.
