People of Bangladesh dreaming of developed life: Speaker
07 November 2015, Nirapad News: Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has said the people of Bangladesh have now been dreaming of standard life after meeting their fundamental needs.
“We have been observing that Bangladesh has already reached to such a stage of development that the prospect of a developed life has been knocking at every door,” she said.
She said this while connecting 14,500 households of 261 villages with new power supply lines under Rangpur Polli Bidyut Samity-1 of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) in Pirganj upazila town here this afternoon as the chief guest.
Later, she inaugurated developed projects, including new Branch of the ‘Polli Sanchoy Bank’, office of the ‘One House, One farm’ Project, newly built academic buildings of Shah Abdur Rouf College, Shalti Samos Dighee Model High School, Bhendabari Degree College, Pirganj Model Girls’ High School and Bajitpur Aminia Girls’ High School.
She also inaugurated construction works of eight projects, including Pirganj office building of Rangpur Regional Station of Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition (BIRTAN) and 39-metre long RCC Girder Bridge on the Akhira Canal by unveiling plaques using digital methods.
Later, she distributed seeds of mustard, wheat, maize and mungbean, fertilisers and pesticides among 240 farmers under the agriculture rehabilitation programme and wheel chairs, spectacles and hearing aid materials among 15 physically challenged students of primary schools.
President of Pirganj upazila Awami League (AL) Motaharul Haque Bablu presided over the function moderated by its General Secretary of Pirganj AL Advocate Tazimul Islam Shamim.
Chairman of Rural Electrification Board (REB) Brigadier General Moin Uddin, General Secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, Vice-chairman of Pirganj upazila parishad Monayem Sarker Manu, addressed the ceremony, among others.
The Speaker said any development planning of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always means the planning for improving life standard of the people of Bangladesh.
“Since elected as a Member of the Parliament from Rangpur-6 constituency, I have given due importance to the demands, necessities and expectations of the people of Pirganj upazila and many of those have already been fulfilled,” she said.
“The present government has taken many big projects for generating adequate electricity and we have mostly met its demand in Pirganj upazila where the rest areas will be brought under power supply networks very soon,” she added.
Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, Vice-president of district AL Chhayadat Hossain Bakul, Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Mazharul Islam, Additional Police Super Joynul Abedin, district Chhatra League President Mehedee Hassan Rony, leaders of AL and its associate organisations were present.
