PM asks all to remain alert over Coronavirus

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the people to remain alert as the number of Coronavirus cases has increased to some extent recently.

She reiterated wearing masks no matter where the people stay– and either vaccinated or not.

Besides, the PM asked all to remain alert and laid emphasis on limited presence in any gathering after properly maintaining health guidelines.

The Prime Minister gave the directives at the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told reporters while briefing at the secretariat after the meeting.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined the meeting virtually from her official residence, Ganabhaban while her cabinet colleagues were connected from the secretariat through virtual media.

Quoting the PM, he said, “We shouldn’t assume that we are in a comfort zone. But, the situation here is far better than other countries.”

“The prime minister mentioned that last year, the cases of virus infection had increased in the summer. So, we can’t say surely that this year it won’t happen. Experts also laid importance to keep an eye on the months of April, May and June.”

Replying to a question, he said necessary steps to be taken after monitoring the situation.
