PM asks to complete Rooppur nuke plant within time
17 December 2015, Nirapad News: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday asked the officials concerned to complete the construction works of Rooppur nuclear plant within the estimated time.
She made the reminder while a delegation of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation of Russian Federation, led by its director general Sergei Kirienko called on her at PMO in city at noon.
PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim informed the media this noon.
He said, the premier asked the delegation that the nuclear plant in Rooppur need to be completed within the given time to meet the power demand in implementing the country’s ‘Vision-2021’.
However, two units of the under-construction plant will provide more than 2,000-MW electricity.
The PM also asked to ensure safety of the plants and sought Russia’s assistance in making Bangladeshi scientists expert regarding nuclear power, the press secretary added.
She also sent good wishes to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.
State minister for science and technology affairs Yafes Osman, prime minister’s advisers Moshiur Rahman and Gowher Rizvi, premier’s principal secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Bangladesh ambassador to Russia Saiful Hoque and ambassador of Russian Federation to Bangladesh Alexander A. Nikolaev were, among others, present here.
