PM for bolstering BD-Sri Lanka military cooperation
10 December 2015, Nirapad News: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday stressed further bolstering the military cooperation between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
She made the remarks when visiting Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal GP Bulathsinghala met her at her official residence Ganobhaban in the evening.
PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
The Prime Minister said her government attaches importance to its relations with Sri Lanka and expressed satisfaction at the existing bilateral relations.
She said the cooperation between the two friendly countries could be expanded further in the agriculture sector.
Hasina said the way the Sri Lankan government overcame its insurgency problem, her government resolved the problem in the CHT through the CHT peace accord.
Regarding terrorism, she said terrorists have no boundary and no religion.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction as peace has been restored in Sri Lanka.
She also conveyed her best regards to the Sri Lankan President through the Lankan Air Force Commander.
Sri Lanka Air Marshal GP Bulathsinghala said they also want to enhance military cooperation with Bangladesh.
He said many Sri Lankan military officials successfully completed various courses in Bangladesh.
PMO Secretary Suraiya Begum and PM’s Military Secretary Major General Mia Md Jainul Abedin were, among others, present.
