PM orders arrest of Khaleda Zia’s aides
03 February 2015, Nirapad News: After listening to some leaked audio clips, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday ordered the authorities concerned to find out the people who had been directed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia over the phone to prolong Hartal and blockade programmes.
Hasina also asked the shipping and local government ministers to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and water vessels across the country during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s agitation programmes.
The premier gave the directives during the weekly cabinet meeting, a minister who attended the meeting confirmed to the seeking anonymity.
The audio clips released as video footage on the YouTube were published from an account named “Bangla Leaks” on February 4 last year. “Bangla Leaks” also shared the YouTube links on its Facebook page the same day.
However, it appears that the conversations were linked to the BNP’s rally in the capital on December 18, 2011 when the party had plans to organize a mass gathering at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh with freedom fighters from across the country.
In several clips, Khaleda Zia was found disappointed as the party leaders had failed to create chaos. She also threatened to remove the top leaders from posts for their failure.
The premier listened to the audio clips and wanted to make sure that the BNP chief had asked her party leaders to carry out subversive activities. Sheikh Hasina then asked authorities concerned to identify the leaders and arrest them.
