PM pays tributes to Bangabandhu on AL’s landslide polls triumph
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina today paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of her party’s absolute victory in 11th parliamentary elections.
The premier paid the homage by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the city here this morning.
After laying the wreath, Sheikh Hasina stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of independence.
Bangabandhu’s younger daughter Sheikh Rehana and Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima Hossain Putul were also present on the occasion.
Flanked by senior Awami League leaders, Sheikh Hasina placed another wreath at Bangabandhu’s portrait as the party chief.

Later, associate bodies of Bangladesh Awami League including Dhaka City North and South AL, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Sramik League, Krishak League, Mohila Awami League and Swechchhasebak League placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu marking the AL’s landslide victory in the national
Accompanied by Sheikh Rehana and Saima Hossain Putul, the prime minister went to the Banani Graveyard and paid tributes to the martyrs of the August 15 carnage by placing wreaths and spreading flower petals.
She also offered fateha and joined a munajat there.
The AL president also paid tributes to the three slain national leaders — Syed Nazrul Islam, Tazuddin Ahmed and Captain Monsur Ali — by placing wreaths at their graves there.
The three leaders along with AHM Qamaruzzaman were brutally killed inside Dhaka Central Jail on November 3 in 1975.
