PM reaches London from New York
02 October 2015, Nirapad News: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached London after attending the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
The flight BA-178 of British Airways carrying the Bangladesh premier and her entourage landed at Heathrow Airport around 8:10pm Thursday (local time).
Jatiya Sangsad speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, public administration minister and also Awami League (AL) general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, who were in UK, Bangladesh High commissioner to UK Mohammad Abdul Hannan, UK AL president Sultan Sahrif and others welcomed her at the airport.
During the short stopover, Sheikh Hasina will stay at Claridges Hotel at Brook Street in London.
Earlier, she left New York for London’s Heathrow airport on Thursday morning.
Bangladesh Ambassador to US M Ziauddin and Bangladesh permanent representative in UN AK Abdul Momen saw off the premier during her departure.
The flight BG-002 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, carrying the PM and her entourage, will fly to Bangladesh at 8:30pm Friday.
She will have a stopover at MAG Osmani International Airport in Sylhet en route to Dhaka.
Local Awami League leaders will meet her here during the break of journey.
Party sources told banglanews that the premier will be accorded reception for achieving the highest award by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) ‘Champions of the Earth’.
Metropolitan AL president Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran told banglanews that they would talk to Special Security Force (SSF) members, law enforcement agency that provides physical protection to the Very Very Important Persons (VVIP) of the country and visiting, about arranging any program.
Sheikh Hasina left the country on September 23. On September 27, she received the ‘Champions of the Earth’ award from UNEP executive director Achim Steiner.
