PM visits Golam Akbar’s residence; consoles family members
23 November 2015, Nirapad News: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday visited the residence of noted politician and social worker late Golam Akbar Chowdhury at city’s Gulshan to console his family members.
Golam Akbar Chowdhury, husband of Deputy Leader of the Jatiya Sangsad Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, died of old-age complications at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital in the morning.
The Prime Minister had been at the residence of Golam Akbar, also a Language Movement veteran, in the afternoon and stayed there for some time, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said.
Sheikh Hasina consoled the family members of the deceased, including Sajeda Chowdhury, and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Golam Akbar breathed his last around 10.30 am at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the BSMMU at the age of 86.
He left behind wife, three sons — Ayman Akbar, Shahadat Akbar, Sajid Akbar, one daughter — Sama Rahman — as well as a host of relatives, well-wishers and admirers to mourn his death. Sajid and Sama are noted Rabindra Sangeet singers of the country.
