Police conducting drive at militants den in Sylhet, SWAT on their way
24 March 2017, Nirapad News: Police and members of other law enforcement agencies are conducting an anti-militant drive at Sibbari area under Dakshin Surma upazia in Sylhet.
The suspected militants have responded to the police call from their hideout.
In response to the repeated police calls to them for surrender, one of the male suspects shouted, “Send force” around 1:15pm.
Police used hand-mike to communicate with the suspects. A police man called, “You have been encircled (by police), surrender peacefully.”
Calling upon a female militant suspect, it was announced, “Morzina Begum, can you hear me? Please, get out and surrender. You will face no problem.”
At 1:48pm, a woman shouted from the suspected hideout, “We are in the way of Allah. Send SWAT early. Why this delay? Time is running out.”
Police announced a phone number through hand-mike and asked to respond if they are interested to surrender to the police.
Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of police Zedan Al Musa said that the enforcers cordoned off the building of one Ustad Mia in the area and started drive early morning on Friday (March 24), suspecting it to be a militant hideout.
The police official said that the suspected militants hurled bomb on the law enforcers in the early morning.
The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) was called in the drive. A SWAT team is on the way to Sylhet from Dhaka. The team left Dhaka for Sylhet at about 10:30 am.
