Poor fuel, tier, design of public transport must end: Ranga
19 April 2016, Nirapad News: State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga said today that without checking the quality of Mobil oil and tires of vehicles no transport would be allowed to operate.
He said that use of refined but burnt Mobil oil and low quality tires was a major reason for road accidents.
The state minister was speaking at a review meeting at the LGRD ministry.
Civil Engineer Dr Md Shamsul Haq of BUET, secretary general of Road Transport Association, Khondoker Enayetullah, BRTA chairman Nazrul Islam and general secretary of Bangladesh Truck and Covered Van Owners’ Association Rustam Ali were present at the meeting.
He also said that manufacture of public transport without following the BUET or BRTA guidelines needed to be stopped as that, too, was another reason for accidents. He suggested deregistration of such vehicles. A decision in this regard is expected on May 11 when the owners of road cargo vehicles meet at the Institute of Engineers’ in a joint meeting.
