President apprised of planning of proposed Mithamoin Cantonment
20 March 2016, Nirapad News: President Abdul Hamid was apprised of overall planning of the proposed Mithamoin Cantonment through a power-point presentation at Bangabhaban today.
The President was informed that the cantonment would be established on 1,044 acres of land and acquisition of the land is now underway and it is expected to be completed by October this year, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.
At the presentation, 14 Independent Engineers’ Brigade Commander Brigadier General ASM Mahmud Hasan also informed President Hamid that when the cantonment is established, socioeconomic development of the area would be expedited side by side with the expansion of infrastructure of the army.
Abdul Hamid asked the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to protect the overall environment of the area during the establishment of the cantonment.
Besides, he also instructed them to take measures for river-training and keeping the biodiversity of haor area intact.
Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq was present during the presentation. Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
Mithamoin is an upazila of Kishoreganj district in Dhaka division.
