President asks Asiatic Society to inform people about real history of liberation movement
09 November 2015, Nirapad News: President Abdul Hamid today urged the Asiatic Society to work on Bangladesh liberation struggle and war so that people can know about the real history of the great liberation movement.
The President said this when a 6-member delegation led by Asiatic Society President Prof Dr Amirul Islam called on him at Bangabhaban, President Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.
During the meeting, the President hoped that the Asiatic Society would continue to work as a centre of excellence.
The delegation informed the President about the activities of the society and said that it conducts basin research and work on publishing an encyclopedia on Liberation War of Bangladesh is going on.
They invited the President to attend the society’s 16th biennial conference and founding anniversary programme.
Earlier, Lt. Gen. Md Moinul Islam, AWC, PSC, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, Md Moinul Islam apprised the President of the programs of the Armed Forces Day on November 21 and invited the President to attend the programs.
