President asks NU to improve quality of education

23 November 2015, Nirapad News: President Abdul Hamid on Monday asked the National University authorities to take necessary steps to improve the quality of its education.
The President made the directive when an NU delegation, led by its Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid, met the President at Bangabhaban.
President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
President Hamid urged the university authorities to attach importance to extracurricular activities of the students apart from their regular education and stressed encouraging them to exercise freethinking.
The delegation apprised the President that they are introducing new courses like National Tourism and Hospitality in colleges under the university as per the demand of time.
They invited the President to chair the first convocation of the 23-year-old university to be held next year, and apprised him that the convocation will also be held simultaneously in its seven regional centers through a videoconferencing.
The delegation also informed Abdul Hamid they are taking initiatives to award best colleges and teachers based on results to inspire them to improve the standard of education.
