President emphasized on increasing standard of education in universities

18 January 2015, Nirapad News : President Abdul Hamid emphasised on taking appropriate measures to increase the standard of higher education to international level in all the universities of the country. Underscoring the need for ensuring quality of higher education President Abdul Hamid today said ensuring standard of education is the urgent to help students prepare for facing global competition successfully. “We’ve to prepare our young generation as international standard by imparting them knowledge of information technology apart from traditional education so that they can win in the global competition because education is the pre-requisite to remain in the competition,” said the President while speaking at the 9th convocation of Rajshahi University (RU).

A total of 4,771 students were conferred degrees in the convocation.

Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university said, “We’ve to assemble all branches of knowledge as well as modern curriculum of the institutions of higher education. Teachers, researchers and students have to follow it so that nobody can raise question about the standard of education.”

Referring to inextricable link between education and research, the chancellor said new knowledge has been created through research which plays important role in fulfilling the existing demands of the society. “We’ve to chalk out work plans keeping the reality in the mind and uphold our own culture though we are connected with the globalized world. We have to make education as the weapon to change the society,” the President added.

Pointing at the graduates, Abdul Hamid said “Today, you are graduates, the higher human resources of the country and today’s
convocation is giving recognition of your achievements and on the other hand, it is bestowing responsibilities on you. These
responsibilities are towards your family, society, above all towards the country and the nation.”

Vice-Chancellor of New Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia Professor Talat Ahmad delivered convocation speech. RU VC Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin and Pro-VC Professor Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan also spoke at the convocation.

Earlier, Abdul Hamid inaugurated the newly constructed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Hall on the university campus.
