Prof Dilip Kumar Bhattacharya Memorial Lecture held at DU

8 October 2015, Nirapad News: Professor Dilip Kumar Bhattacharya Memorial Lecture on “New Horizons in Sanskrit Studies” was held today at the RC Majumder Arts auditorium of Dhaka University (DU).

Prof Dilip Kumar Bhattacharya Research Centre of DU organised the event.

DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Nasreen Ahmad presided over the function while former Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi Prof Radhavallabh Tripathi delivered the memorial lecture.

Chairman of the Department of Sanskrit Prof Dulal Kanti Bhowmik and Prof Narayan Chandra Biswas also addressed the programme while Director of the research centre Prof Madhabi Rani Chanda conducted it.

Dr Nasreen Ahmad thanked the key-note speaker for delivering his informative lecture. She hoped that the teachers and students of Sanskrit Department would be highly benefited from this lecture.

Prof Radhavallabh Tripathi stressed the need for development of Sanskrit education as well as cultivation of knowledge of Sanskrit to promote human civilization.

He said Sanskrit language should be utilized in modern ICT properly. We need more skilled scholars of Sanskrit to preserve our manuscripts, tradition and culture, he added.

It may be mentioned that Dr Dilip Kumar Bhattacharya, late Professor of the Department of Sanskrit of DU, was born on February 02, 1948 in Narayanganj and died on October 28, 1999 in Dhaka.
