Programs on Dr Wazed’s birth anniversary
30 January 2015, Nirapad News: Elaborate programs have been finalised to observe the 74th birth anniversary of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina’s husband and noted nuclear scientist Dr M A Wazed Miah (Sudha Miah) here on February 15 and 16 next.
Dr Wazed Smriti Sangsad (DWSS) has finalised the two-day programmes to celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner, general secretary of DWSS and senior journalist Saiful Islam Jahangir told BSS tonight.
A meeting to this effect was held at Raja Ram Mohan Club auditorium in the city last night with vice-president of DWSS Monwar Hossain, Dr Wazed’s boyhood friend and a noted cultural personality, in the chair, he said.
General secretary of DWSS and senior journalist Saiful Islam Jahangir, joint secretaries Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick Babu Sona, Organising Secretary Advocate Feroz Kabir Chowdhury Gunjan, Office Secretary Abul Kashem, Assistant Publicity Secretary Masud Raihan Lam, Publicity Secretary Chandan Sarker, assistant office secretary of DWSS Ali Jahur Mantu, executive member Assistant Professor Abu Taher Mandal, addressed, among others.
The programmes include drawing and descent hand writing competitions, poem recitation competitions and patriotic song competitions for children will be held on Town Hall premises on February 15 in the afternoon.
On February 16, leaders of the DWSS will place wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed Miah, arrange Ziarat and offer Fateha in his birthplace village of Laldighee Fotehpur under Pirganj upazila in the district at 9 am.
Milad and doa mahfils will be arranged and special munajats be offered at Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque in the city after Johr prayers seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Dr Wazed and well-being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Sayma Wazed Putul and their other family members.
A discussion meeting on the life and deeds of the renowned nuclear scientist Dr Wazed will be arranged at Town Hall auditorium at 6 pm on February 16 and prizes, crests and certificates will be distributed among winners of different competitions.
High government officials, politicians, public representatives, renowned academicians, educationists, researchers, professionals, intellectuals, civil society members and elite will take part in the discussion.
General secretary of DWSS Saiful Islam Jahangir said that the two-day programmes will remain open for the people from all walks in the society, teachers, students, parents and common people.
The students of all educational institutions and socio-cultural organisations can participate in the competitions, he said and requested all on behalf of DWSS to be present in the two-day long programmes to observe the birth anniversary of Dr Wazed.
