Qatar Charity, Orbis UK launch campaign to reduce blindness in BD
8 October 2015, Nirapad News: Qatar Charity (QC) and Orbis UK have jointly launched a campaign to mobilise more than QR 4 million to reduce blindness in children in Bangladesh.
The campaign was launched after Princess Sophie Rhys-Jones, the Countess of Wessex, visited Qatar Charity headquarters in Doha.
Under the partnership, Qatar Charity will mobilise support for the campaign, while Orbis UK will implement it, reports Qatar News Agency (QNA).
Orbis UK has more than 15 years experience in Bangladesh in the fight against blindness, a major problem in that country, said Qatar Charity in a statement on Tuesday.
Director of the Middle East Partnerships at Orbis UK Florence Brancheau hoped that the Qatari people would back this campaign to save the sight of the children in Bangladesh.
Qatar Charity chief executive officer, Yusuf Ahmed Al Kuwari expressed Qatar Charity’s pride to implement the campaign with Orbis UK, characterised by its expertise in the fight against blindness.
He said this was in line with Qatar Charity’s desire to enhance cooperation and partnerships with international humanitarian institutions to implement such programs across the world.
