Railway starts selling advance Eid tickets
16 Septembar 2015, Nirapad News: Bangladesh Railway (BR) started selling advance tickets for home-bound passengers on different routes from today on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
Advance tickets for September 20 were sold today from Kamalapur (Dhaka) and Chittagong railway stations while the tickets for September 21 would be sold tomorrow (September 16).
BR Additional Director General (Operation) M. Habibur Rahman told BSS that Railways Minister M. Mujibul Haq visited Kamalapur railway station today to see the selling of advance tickets.
Acting Secretary of Railways Ministry M. Amzad Hossain and senior officials concerned were on the occasion.
The minister talked to the advance ticket-seekers during his visit.
He said the BR has taken all-out preparations to ensure smooth journey of passengers during the Eid.
The BR is adding 138 passenger coaches to its fleet after necessary renovation to cope with the increased passengers during the Eid, he said, adding that 25 rail engineers would also be repaired in the factory for the purpose.
The minister said all measures have been taken to stop black marketing of advance tickets. Monitoring by law enforcers and intelligence agencies has been increased, he added.
Officials said the selling of advance tickets would continue from 9 am to 5 pm everyday till September 19.
The return Eid tickets would be on sale from September 23 to 27.
