Rajan murder convict surrenders

22 November 2015, Nirapad News: One of the two absconding Rajan murder convicts has been sent to jail after he surrendered in a Sylhet court. Shamim Ahmed, who had been sentenced to seven years in prison for the July 2015 murder, surrendered before the court of Sessions Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha on Sunday, said Public Prosecutor Mafur Ali. The court scrapped his bail petition and sent him to jail. Ahmed is the brother of the prime suspect Kamrul Islam, who has been given the death penalty for Samiul Alam Rajan’s murder on Jul 8. The 13-year-old boy was beaten and tortured to death for alleged theft at Sylhet’s Kumargaon. One of those torturing the boy filmed and released the shocking footage on a social networking site. The 28-minute video clip created a firestorm on the social media.
